Cold weather takes its toll on our skin. There’s no getting away from it. So, instead of trying to cover up and disguise dry, dull, flaky skin, my advice is to do something about it. And now. After all as the saying goes, ‘fail to prepare and prepare to fail’.

There are lots of treatments to give you a helping hand when you lack that glow but one of my absolute favourites to set your skin up for the season ahead – and boost a post-holiday dull complexion – is our own Triple Action Facial. This is supercharged beauty and combines a microdermabrasion facial with LED light therapy and an amazing anti-ageing collagen mask treatment with DNA repair. This combination treatment offers a three in one approach giving instant yet long lasting results. It is ideal for those amongst us who need maximum results in the shortest time.

One issue we encounter this time of year is that dry skin just isn’t as efficient at shedding dead skin cells – one of the main culprits for dull skin. That’s why it’s important to give skin a helping hand early on and regularly exfoliate at home too. For the body, I always use a natural bristle body brush for my legs and upper thighs and love Elemis’s Lime & Ginger Salt Scrub. On my face, I use Elizabeth Arden PRO Peel Pads and Murad’s new Multi Vitamin Infusion Oil, a gorgeous product which keeps dullness at bay and helps pigmentation too. And on that note – if you are struggling with uneven pigmentation, this is great time to address sun damaged areas with IPL skin rejuvenation.

I would always recommend refreshing your skincare as the seasons change too. For example, I use a lighter face moisturiser during warmer months but prefer a rich, nourishing cream like Elizabeth Arden PRO Intense Hydrating Cream during winter. A weekly hydrating face mask can work wonders too. And don’t forget a good eye cream – the skin around the eyes is more prone to dryness and quicker to show signs of aging so it’s worth the investment.

Your hands also need attention. They’re most exposed to the elements so you need to protect and pamper them – try Murad’s Rejuvenating AHA Hand Cream, it smells divine. Or you can never go wrong with a Zen Deluxe Manicure. It’ll make nails look great and hands rejuvenated thanks to a super nourishing paraffin wax treatment.

To help keep skin supple and moisturised from the inside out, eat foods high in essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6) – think everything from salmon to mackerel and pumpkin seeds. I’m a huge fan of Skinade too. It’s a skin plumping collagen drink that helps increase moisture and hydration. Try a 30-day pack and trust me, you won’t be disappointed – it’s a beauty-must have.

And lastly, don’t forget your SPF. I wear mine all year round and you should too.
