I was just flicking through the Winter issue of Spa Secrets and came across a really interesting article. Ask yourself, are you still using the same moisturiser or cleanser as 10 years ago? If that’s you, then maybe it’s time for a change as it could be time to get an age and skin-specific regime in place. That’s why this article caught my eye, because we have so many customers coming in that have no idea what to use for their age or skin type, and of course everybody is different, so don’t feel embarrassed to ask for advice.

There is no way to change the effect that time has on our skin, but with the right skin care, regular facials, and just a bit of effort, it’s now possible to stay looking younger for longer.

In your 20’s your skin is going through a lot of changes from adolescence, and that can have a big effect on your complexion. Spots are the most common complaint, and Spa Secrets magazine actually recommends Murads Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF20 as being the perfect moisturizer for people in their 20’s. It has blemish control, hydration, and sun protection all in one. We also do a facial in the Acne range, the Murad Clarifying Facial, which is great for anyone who wants a strong facial to clear their skin of spots and imperfections.

In your 30’s your skin is still in pretty good condition, but you need to start paying closer attention. According to the experts this is the time where the first signs of ageing start to crop up. The main issues are pigmentation, lines, and the start of loss of elasticity. Switch to repair type products, and use serums underneath your moisturizer for better results. You also need to shield your skin from sun-induced pigmentation and cell degeneration, sun protection with a UVA and UVB is a must! The Murad Vitamin C range has exactly that with the Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30 PA+++. It protects and strengthens skin against environmental ageing by blocking UVA/UVB rays to prevent sun and free radical damage, and it improves the skins barrier function to maintain optimal hydration. The Murad Vitamin C facial is a great way to boost your skin with antioxidants and restore clarity, texture, elasticity and firmness.

In your 40’s Oestrogen levels reduce, so the skin is less pert and bouncy, resulting in in sags and wrinkles around the neck and chest. More effective anti-ageing products should be used to combat dryness which happens through hormonal changes. The Murad Resurgence range is designed for hormonal changes and is a very hydrating range. Serums are also a must through our 40’s as they penetrate ingredients deeper into the skin. The Murad Age Diffusing Serum is a brilliant product to use every day after cleansing. It increases firmness up to 42% in 10 minutes, and reduces the appearance of medium to deep wrinkles. The Murad Resurgence Renewal facial is pure luxury, known in Hollywood as the ‘Red Carpet’ Facial. It is the perfect remedy for anyone experiencing dry skin, loss of elasticity, dullness, and/or hormonal breakouts.

In your 50’s+, collagen and elastin production slows right down. This means the skin is thinner and dryer and prone to deep-set lines, wrinkles and sagging. Pigmentation and redness can also be an issue in this age group. Highly nourishing creams and serums are a must have, and regular anti-ageing facials focusing on boosting levels of hydration and collagen will help slow the progression of ageing. Giving yourself a facial massage daily during cleansing is also beneficial as it keeps the skin stimulated. Again the Murad Resurgence range is a great one, but the Age Reform range is also fantastic. The Intensive Wrinkle Reducer improves skin smoothness by 33% in 2 weeks, and dimishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by 55% in 12 weeks. Our Zen Collagen facial is great for people in this age group, and just one facial will smooth wrinkles noticibly and is extremely hydrating.
