Pinpoint Perfection – A Guide to Medical Cosmetics Today

Sometimes our faithful routine of facials, lotions and potions need a little helping hand in the battle against the dreaded wrinkles. And while we’re all for growing old gracefully, we won’t tell if you don’t …

Botox has been on the beauty scene for decades but in recent years it often received a bit of a bad rap thanks to overenthusiastic celebs taking it too far and unregistered salons offering substandard treatments. However, we’re seeing a real resurgence across the capital with both men and women going under the needle in pursuit of a fresh look. No frozen faces here!

Sophisticated Techniques

Fueling this revival is the introduction of more sophisticated techniques that promise a youthful result, so subtle and refined that even your other half will struggle to pinpoint why you look so revitalised. The process isn’t about clawing back the years and eradicating movement but looking like the best version of you.

Zen is lucky enough to host an incredible medical team from Dr Rita Rakus’s famous Knightsbridge based cosmetic clinic, every four to six weeks. They offer some of the most effective and sophisticated procedures available. At Zen, we are real advocates a subtle, natural look, and the skills of the cosmetic team really reflect this ethos. Plus, the results are just sensational!

Cosmetic Injections

Probably Dr Rakus’s most popular treatments at Zen are cosmetic injections, using prescription injectables to address those pesky frown lines or crow’s feet that creep up on us over the years, as well as dermal fillers to bring a smooth, plump look back to aging skin.

The medical cosmetics clinic offers a range of other treatments with equally impressive results. A winner with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Michelle Obama, Thermage is a radio-frequency treatment that targets surface imperfections deep down, remodeling your collagen to produce smooth, invigorated skin. Results are often immediate and – the best bit – can last for years! Another collagen stimulating treatment, Rejuvapen not only works wonders on dull, tired skin but can also help tackle acne scars and pigmentation.

Nip and Tuck?

If you think your skin could perhaps do with a wee ‘nip and tuck’, then give the surgeon’s knife a swerve in favour of another of the cosmetic team’s specialities – Ultherapy. This is a really innovative treatment that has only recently come onto the market. It is a powerful treatment using advanced ultrasound technology to stimulate collagen, tighten, lift and tone for more lasting results. Results are dramatic!

What’s the first step?

Rather than spending ages trying to work out what is best for you, the first step would be to book in for a consultation. The doctors and nurses from the Rita Rakus clinic are really lovely and helpful and will be happy to give you the best advice. The doctor can have a look at your skin and discuss your concerns. from there she can recommend which treatment or combination might be most effective and advise you on the likely costs. Then you can decide whether or not to book in for a treatment. There is no charge for a consultation although we do take a £25 cancellation deposit.

Medical cosmetics treatments are carried out at our Teviot Place salon. Please give us a call to book your consultation: 0131 226 6777.
